Essential

Last January I chose essential as my One Little Word. The idea was to focus on what was essential to how I want to live my life, what I really want and need, and where possible to eliminate those things that aren't essential. I wrote the word on my whiteboard at work and it actually did help me there - that and a couple of massive rearranging and chucking-out sessions! My still-stuffed cupboards at home tell me I still have a long way to go with identifying the essentials.

What did happen was that this year I spent a lot of time realising just how lucky I am, and we are. I caught myself enjoying the moment, treasuring the simple events of the everyday.

I'm not sure what my word for 2011 will be, it hasn't chosen me yet - maybe it's not
essential to have a new word just yet. What I do know is that these two are my essentials - now and always.

Wishing you and your family a great New Year Lyndel...

I love this post - I too have grown to appreciate the little things and enjoying the moments instead of being focussed on our tomorrows...
